Summary/Abstract: The article reviews the images of the Eucharistic tables in catacomb paintings and sarcophagus plastic art. It studies the succession trends and aspects in Christian art in the coming periods. The image of Jesus Christ in ancient Christian art was centrally positioned relatively early, thus initiating the later Christ-centrality of the temple’s architectural and iconographic programme. The Eucharistic tables, recreated in early Christian art, were perceived in the context of Christ-centrality. Over the next centuries these tables influenced the respective compositions of Eucharistic character in the Orthodox temple iconographic programme. Subject to analysis in the article are also the various attributes portrayed on the Eucharistic tables or near them.
