EUCHARISTIC ASPECTS IN THE ICONOGRAPHY OF THE FOUR EVANGELISTS

Summary/Abstract: The article examines the iconographic images of the holy evangelists and their symbols through the prism of the Holy Eucharist. The Eucharistic aspects of the images of the evangelists are revealed in cases where they are positioned on church utensils with Eucharistic use. The thesis is substantiated with arguments that the iconography of the holy evangelists and its connection with the Holy Eucharist has its prehistory in the era of ancient Christian art. The Eucharistic aspects find their continuation, development and consolidation in the following centuries.
