Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to analyze in detail the impact of the Transnistria issue on geopolitical developments in Eastern Europe. In this context, the historical and current aspects of the Transnistria issue have been evaluated. The article employs a historical analysis method. The Transnistria issue has been framed within the context of geopolitical factors. The attitudes and arguments of the actors involved in the conflict and engaged in the issue at various levels have been compared in a comparative manner. The Transnistria conflict is a typical example of “frozen conflicts” in the post-Soviet geography. In this context, the Transnistria conflict has the potential to deeply affect the geopolitical fault lines in Eastern Europe. The Russia-Ukraine war has added a new dimension to the Transnistria issue. In the first year of the war, Russia’s opening of a new front in Transnistria came to the fore. In the subsequent process, the possibility of Ukraine attacking Transnistria to put Russia in a difficult position emerged. Russia’s suspension of gas transit through Ukraine as of January 1, 2025, has caused a large-scale energy crisis in the region.
