Summary/Abstract: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) originally started as the Shanghai Five in 1996. Having been formed as the SCO in 2001, this regional organization has gradually developed into an efficient platform, primarily focusing on matters including border security, shared security concerns, and economic collaboration. Radical changes in the international system have allowed the SCO to increase its regional role. Today, the SCO stands out as an effective example of regionalization. The SCO’s visibility in international politics has significantly increased because of its geographical expansion. This provides insights into the role of the SCO in the transition to multipolarity. The article examines the position of the SCO in regional and global politics within a conceptual unity. This is the main focus of the article. The article seeks to answer the question of the conditions and parameters under which the SCO’s position is shaped. The assumption that the SCO’s position in regional and global politics will become more competent with the dynamics of contemporary international relations constitutes the fictional basis of the article.
