Summary/Abstract: The article considers the bribery under Bulgarian criminal law. Its purpose is to seek an answer to the question whether the legislative approach to the forms of the actus reus of passive and active bribery is fully appropriate. This is done through the prism of the relationship between the two crimes. In order to achieve the stated goal, the evolution of the legal regulation of passive and active bribery under our criminal law is traced as well as the way in which it has been perceived by the doctrine and the jurisprudence in different periods is outlined. This analysis allows the author to formulate a justified opinion that a legislative reform should be carried out regarding the forms of the actus reus of the two crimes, as well as that the current understanding of the moment of completion of active bribery should be changed, regarding cases in which the perpetrator gives a gift or benefit to the subject of passive bribery.
