Summary/Abstract: In the 1990s, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) slowly began to take an interest in missiology and missionary activity. Among many clergyman the realization of missions is not fully understood and accepted, and missions are often equated with retreats. However, thanks to the involvement of individuals and the emerging encouragement of bishops, awareness of missions is growing among an increasing number of faithful. The introduction of Missiology as a compulsory subject in Theological Institutes and Seminaries, the education of its own, albeit still small, group of missiologists, the establishment of religious congregations with a missionary charism, and other institutions or initiatives directly dealing with this issue, indicate a certain steady trend in the development of the UGCC’s missionary spirit. Although these are modest beginnings that still encounter numerous obstacles, the efforts undertaken are moving in the right direction to join the missionary activity of the Universal Church ad gentes.
