Summary/Abstract: After the pandemic, the number of tourist trips is increasing constantly, which puts serious challenges before tourism industry. Along with increasing revenues, tourism development creates some difficulties, so the main goal of tourism is to make it easier to travel by using the benefits of Internet of Things technologies (IoT), artificial intelligence, large data (Big Data) and NFC technologies. It is expected that most of the world's population will have access to the Internet in 2025. Mobile devices are already part of the main arsenal of travelers. In addition, more and more mobile applications are emerging to help users to facilitate the difficult process of organizing a trip. Artificial intelligence allows the automation of activities that users had to do until recently. For example, travel agencies can make online registration for flight instead of the customer, make changes to the reservation at the request of the passenger, inform in a short period of unexpected changes in the flight, help with alternatives, etc. This report is based on materials from scientific literature and aims to familiarize readers with the main applications of artificial intelligence in tourism, their benefits and negative effects. The next stage is an empirical establishment of the degree of application of artificial intelligence in the Bulgarian tourism industry.
