Summary/Abstract: After the pandemic, the number of tourist trips has been growing steadily and explosively, which poses serious challenges for the tourism sector. Along with increasing revenues, increased tourism development has created certain difficulties, some of which can be solved by the adequate implementation of artificial intelligence (AI).In 2025, the majority of the world's population will have access to the Internet. More and more mobile applications are emerging to help users, so as to facilitate the difficult process of organizing a trip.Artificial intelligence allows the automation of activities that until recently were performed either by the customers or by travel officials. The article draws on material from the scientific literature and aims to familiarize readers with the policies required and imposed by the main applications of artificial intelligence in tourism. It clarifies and presents the possibilities for the AI implementation in tourism, for introducing innovations and for the stimulation of a sustainable and inclusive development. It is in this context that this publication examines the potential positive impact of AI on tourism and the likely policy implications. It first looks at how AI can improve innovation and sustainability more broadly, before exploring possible applications for the tourism sector and, more specifically, how AI can be used to maximize opportunities for destinations, people (workers, residents and tourists) and businesses (tourism businesses and their business environment).
