Summary/Abstract: This article is an attempt to systematize the knowledge on the Polish ground concerning the study of cohesion in disturbed discourse in reference to the presented theory of M. Halliday and R. Hasan from 1976 entitled Cohesion in English. A review of the literature was made in defining the concept of cohesion itself and its determinants. Then, the knowledge was related to research in structural linguistics. The results of the study of cohesion in disturbed discourse in people with mixed aphasia were presented, indicating the significance of the determinants in relation to the type of discourse.
