Summary/Abstract: Aphasia is a speech disorder that significantly affects the social funconing of people who have suffered a stroke. Although there is an increase in linguisc research on discourse, there is also an observable shortage of studies concerning cohesion and coherence in mixed aphasia in the Polish context. One of the determinants of cohesion is the conjuncon, which was analysed in the uerances in the presented research. Among other things, a more frequent use of conjuncons was observed in the control group, and, by contrast, conjuncons were the rarest in those with mixed aphasia with a motor component. The study showed that paents with mixed aphasia with a sensory component used more conjuncons indicang purpose and cause-and- effect relaonship, which may indicate aempts to form subordinate sentences and a desire to connue speaking. Research indicates the need to enrich therapeuc acvies in exercises that develop the skill of using conjuncons properly in uerances.
