Summary/Abstract: The administrative-territorial reorganization of 1968 created the conditions for the emergence of new local institutions, intended to consolidate the identity and cohesion of the newly formed communities. In this context, the Oltul newspaper was established in Olt County as the main instrument of propaganda and reflection of economic, social, and cultural transformations. Claiming the role of informing and affirming regional values, the publication quickly became a platform for promoting party policies and influencing the thinking and opinions of the population during a period of rapid transformation in the structure of society. This article aims to analyse the conditions surrounding the newspaper's emergence and the recurring themes in its pages during its first year of publication.
