Summary/Abstract: The article examines the field of physical education as a platform for adapting students to society. It is highlighted that there are situations when a person, due to circumstances related to his psychological health, is unable to satisfy his actual needs, then most often there is a feeling of anxiety, fear, concern, which act as a protective mechanism. The emergence of anxiety, in turn, increases behavioral activity and changes forms of behavior. The article highlights that the process of adaptation must be considered comprehensively, in the interrelationship of its levels: only at the level of interpersonal relations, behavior of an individual student, only at the level of psychophysiological activity of the body. It is also outlined that the practice of drawing up a special passport for the adaptation of applicants is useful. It is recommended to regularly hold events where applicants will have the opportunity to jointly solve issues relevant to them, as numerous studies have proven the effectiveness of joint work for establishing interpersonal relations. At the same time, it is emphasized that it is worth remembering that the most important aspect in the process of adaptation is the characteristics of the applicant’s personality, his individual and personal traits, abilities, skills and desire to adapt to new social conditions, therefore, the independent and creative work of the applicant himself is necessary. The article focuses on the fact that the study of the peculiarities of the manifestation of attitudes towards health in youth shows that health for young people is mainly physical activity, the absence or restriction of bad habits, and healthy nutrition. While a number of components of health – positive thinking, the possibility of self-realization, satisfaction with learning – do not appear at all in the responses of young people. It was highlighted that the adaptation of applicants is directly related to the anxiety of the individual in carrying out the adaptation process. The article also describes that anxiety can be situational or personal. Personal anxiety manifests itself in a typical, situationally stable reaction of a person – a state of heightened anxiety – to a situation that threatens his personality. Situational anxiety is an indicator of the intensity of experiences that arise in relation to typical events. And that is why the feeling of anxiety, expressed in anxiety level indicators, inevitably accompanies the life of students, but it is necessary to understand this and use exercises to reduce anxiety, both individual and group, and physical exercises are one of the effective ways in this direction. It was determined that there are a number of factors affecting the process of adaptation of students to training, which reduce the effectiveness of training. All these factors play a «slowing» role in the adaptation of the acquirer. And the combination of these factors causes an overstrain of the acquirer’s physical and mental sphere, which can lead to maladaptation.
