Summary/Abstract: Issues related to the processes of transfer (transfer, exchange) of the population of the Danube regions of Ukraine at the final stage and after the end of the Second World War are analyzed. On the basis of previously unpublished archival documents, the course of repatriation, its features and effectiveness in the period 1944-1947 were studied. Lists of residents of the Izmail region who returned to the Motherland were analyzed in terms of age, nationality, gender, professional affiliation; time of departure and return to the USSR. It has been proven that the majority of residents of the region who left (consciously or forcibly) their places of permanent residence during the war were subject to strict filtering upon their return, which for many ended either in arrests and prisons, or forced enrollment in collective farms/state farms, or being sent ( actually by deportation) to distant regions of Kazakhstan, Siberia, etc. Of particular interest are the materials devoted to the use of repatriates in the economic sector: during collectivization in the region and forced sending to the so-called "labor front" in Kazakhstan, Donbas, etc. It is important to emphasize that the vast majority of temporarily displaced persons were Bulgarians or Romanians/Moldovans by nationality. Archival materials were collected by the author while working in the Lithuanian Special Archives (Vilnius, Special Archives of Lithuania) and the Izmail Archive (Ukraine).
