Summary/Abstract: The author of the article considers the study of deconstructive aspects of the aesthetics of the absurd, postmodernism in the school course of foreign literature of the late twentieth, and early twenty-first centuries as an important component of modern humanitarian education. These areas help to develop critical thinking and understanding of complex literary forms, in particular, contribute to the formation of an intellectually developed personality. The pedagogical goal of studying literary texts with a distinct deconstructive component is to enable students to develop important skills and competencies. They are: developing critical thinking, as the deconstructive aspects of literature encourage students to analyze texts, find hidden meanings and consider alternative interpretations, as well as understanding complex literary forms on the example of the aesthetics of the absurd and postmodernism allows for a deeper acquaintance with various literary techniques and styles and the development of intertextual analysis skills. Knowledge of the works of these artistic trends will contribute to the formation of cultural competence, since knowledge of contemporary foreign literature contributes to the broadening of the worldview and understanding of cultural contexts. Discussion of works of contemporary foreign literature with aesthetic features of absurdity and postmodernism contributes to the comprehensive development of high school students, helps to develop critical thinking, creativity, communication skills and other important competencies, and shapes an intellectually developed, culturally educated and emotionally mature personality. Critical thinking is developed through the ability to analyze a text from different perspectives, to understand the subversion of traditional narratives and interpretations, as well as the ability to analyze complex literary works, find hidden meanings and evaluate their significance. Creative assignments and innovative approaches will foster creativity. Communication skills will be developed by deepening the ability to effectively express their thoughts, listen to others, and defend their position in a reasoned manner when discussing literary works for extracurricular reading. Information literacy will be developed through the ability to find, evaluate and use a variety of information sources, in particular in the process of preparing presentations with a clear and logical format for presenting ideas. The ability to understand and empathize with the characters of literary works, to analyze their feelings and motivations will increase emotional intelligence, and awareness of one's own emotions and reactions to literary texts will contribute to the development of self-reflection.
