Support for the Development of Polishness in the Eastern Provinces of the German State after the End of the First World War in the Light of a Study by the Historian of Economic History Franciszek Bujak (1875–1953)

Summary/Abstract: The demarcation of the border between Poland, which was reborn after World War I, and the German state was complicated for many reasons, and it was anticipated that the borders obtained as a result of negotiations would not satisfy either side. The presented document, authored by Franciszek Bujak, is an interesting and unique example of a plan for Polish peaceful expansion into the territories of eastern Germany, i.e. the districts of Wrocław, Legnica, Frankfurt-on-Oder, Szczecin, Koszalin, as well as Królewiec and Gąbin. It was to be implemented in about three decades, and its proper progress was to be guaranteed by appropriate provisions in the peace treaty being constructed at the time. Although this project was probably not considered or presented more extensively, it is worth learning about because of the thought it portrayed about the German threat, as well as the intended to eventually offset it – takeover of the indicated territories.
