Summary/Abstract: The use of positive or negative vocabulary is important in physiotherapy practice, as it can increase motivation and promote patient engagement and commitment to rehabilitation programs. Emotive vocabulary has a special place in the field of physical rehabilitation, as it can significantly influence clinical outcomes. Emotional expressions are crucial for the development and regulation of interpersonal relationships. The aim of the article is to analyse the negative and positive vocabulary used by speakers as emotive triggers to influence an audience interested in rehabilitation. Methodology. The study uses a theoretical and empirical method, a descriptive method, and a method of contextual analysis. The research analysed 10 TED talks on the topic of physical rehabilitation. Among the positive nouns that were repeated in the speakers’ speeches, we highlight «hope,» «recovery,» «happiness,» «joy,» and «journey.» Among the speeches studied, the negative nouns were «pain,» «problem,» «injury,» «accident,» and «stress.» Conclusions. Positive emotive triggers are used to create a motivational, inspiring narrative, to support belief in recovery and overcoming difficulties. Negative emotive triggers help to create contrast and evoke sympathy by pointing out the difficulties and challenges that patients face in the rehabilitation process. The frequency of negative vocabulary use prevails, which corresponds to the classification of basic emotions. The use of negative and positive vocabulary not only informs but also motivates listeners to achieve certain results in treatment, pointing to real-life examples. Prospects for further research are to identify strategies for enhancing the emotional connection between speaker and audience through the purposeful use of of language.
