Summary/Abstract: The present paper focuses on the “Starci in Turia” pageant (2017). It examines how the festive time-space (chronotope) produces community through the participation of various actors. The author examines the invention of the tradition of mummery games during the festival day, referring to authoritative theories in cultural anthropology. The text conveys the impressions of participants in the event, who take an active role. Important concepts such as ‘holiday community’, ‘invented tradition’ and ‘holiday chronotope’ are discussed within the context of field observation.
