Projections of the mirror counterpoint in the arrangement for the orchestra of Bulgarian folk instruments

Summary/Abstract: The object of the present study it the mirror counterpoint and the possibilities it contains for polyphonic variation in the arrangement for the orchestra of Bulgarian folk instruments. The mirror inverted and irreversible counterpoint with added reasoning and methodological guidelines for orchestration is considered. The purpose of the chosen approach is to show the need for mastery of three theoretical disciplines – „Polyphonic“, „Orchestration“ and „Processing and orchestration for folk ensembles“. The report also touches on a specific counterpoint technique in which the theme and the mirror image are imitated at the same time, known in theoretical circles as the „mirror canon“.
