Summary/Abstract: In recent decades, the growing politicization of the space of faith and religious activity has been ob-served in American Evangelicalism. Particular involvement in public discourse has become an ex-pression of departure from, or perhaps even betrayal of, the all-evangelical strategy of isolation from“the things of this world”. The missiological and evangelical imperative no longer emphasizes onlythe need to tear as many souls as possible from the “snares of damnation”, but the necessity of intro-ducing social change, which is to become a harbinger of the opening of the eschatological scenario. The state’s aid role has a special place in the politization process. However, this attitude towards thisissue is instrumentally used by political circles, especially right-wing populism, which has now be-come the ideological core of the Republican Party. By supporting the religiously conservative agenda,it is implementing its political program, which is the dismantling of all institutions of the welfare state(deregulation, decentralization). This situation deepens the public sense of insecurity and instability, which in turn pushes the fearful masses into the arms of populism and ideological and identity wars. The aim of this article is to present selected aspects of the process of politicization of Evangelicalismand the resulting implications, for example in the form of opposition to the welfare state.
