Summary/Abstract: This article argues for a new kind of seminar approach tailored to students of computing and related ICT disciplines. It proposes design principles that combine relevant content for students` specialization, the type of pedagogy that improves retention and fluency, multimedia and interactive components so much appreciated by present-day students, as well as mechanisms for rapid updating driven by digital resources, all these meant to improve the traditional printed format of a textbook. Intended for language teachers or course designers, the paper draws on materials-development, on recent work about digital coursebooks and AI in education, also presenting the results of a survey carried out on a group of students from The Technical University of Cluj–Napoca.
