Summary/Abstract: The church in Cerghid speaks of a community of land workers whose diligence stimulated the generosity of a landowner to give them a place of worship, commensurate with their faith. Some also had their patch of land bought after working in America in the early 20th century, from where they returned to start their own families. The old wooden church had become unfit for the multitude of parishioners and their growing thirst for prayer in a reunited country. Both churches speak of industriousness, generosity and durability through the talent of architects and painters who erected the edifices that became, through their beauty and discreet charm, true pillars of Heaven in the Christian souls of the locals. The history of these buildings in Cerghid follows a route specific to ecclesiastical architecture and Romanian secular traditions
