Summary/Abstract: The uniqueness of the interaction in picture books dealing with emotions in selected works by Olga Stehlíková and Tina Ozewicz lies in the combination of two levels of communication – visual and verbal. This process is supported by a "silent understanding" (H. G. Gadamer), centered around repeated viewing and reading, leading to a progressively deeper grasp of meaning.
