Summary/Abstract: Comparative capitalism (CC) is a field of research that draws on political science and political economy to compare economic functioning, institutions and political forces across countries and to compare the intersections between institutions and economic growth. The varieties of capitalism (VoC) approach is the mainstream application of CC research. While VoC challenges the notion that a single economic policy is suitable for all countries, it has been criticized for being too firm-oriented and offering a limited research framework. Although the Second Generation VoC has been extended to developing countries, it has not been able to overcome the research methodology of VoC. The growth models approach, on the other hand, aims to transcend the research methodology of VoC and examine capitalist diversification. This approach incorporates the Post-Keynesian economic perspective, which assumes the inherent instability of capitalism. Additionally, it links politics and sociology with economics by linking different growth models applied by countries to growth coalitions and emphasizes inter- and intra-class conflicts.
