Summary/Abstract: The paper is an attempt at an interlocution with the recent works of the German sociologist Wolfgang Streeck. It presents Streck’s ideas about deglobalization and the restoration of sovereign national democratic states, as well as their right to decide on their economic, monetary, social and any other policies. However, the author seeks to go a step further and show that corporations and banks today represent a much greater threat to such a model than is generally perceived, and that more needs to be done in the field of security to protect people, societies, and democracy itself. Therefore, the paper proposes the use of elements, measures and policies that come from the authoritarian tradition, as necessary for the security and political protection of people from predatory external factors, – above all, from corporations.
