Summary/Abstract: The article examines the European Union’s border policy for ensuring border security. At the external borders, security is ensured through enhanced control, comprehensive management, the development of common standards, international cooperation, by transferring and resolving border issues jointly with neighboring countries, as well as through organizational, institutional, and legislative measures. Internal borders ensure freedom of movement, human rights, and civil liberties. The article concludes that the EU’s border policy is effective. For the neighboring countries of the EU, it is suggested to conduct border policy based on national interests, and for the Republic of Moldova, this involves developing international and cross-border cooperation.
