CONCEPTUAL PROJECT FOR CREATING NEW CIRCULAR WALKING ROUTES AT THE IVANOVO ROCK CHURCHES

Summary/Abstract: In the canyon of the Rusenski Lom River is the largest concentration of rock monasteries in Bulgaria. They form a cultural landscape where human presence is harmoniously integrated with the natural environment. The proposed project aims to create new walking tours along circular routes, which would be conducted in the territory of the Ivanovo Rock Churches as a permanent tourist service. These routes would provide an opportunity for a comprehensive exploration of the remarkable UNESCO monument, increase visitor numbers, transform the learning process into an attractive and enjoyable experience, highlight the previously lesser known parts of the monastery as valuable, visualize the world of the past, and emphasize the importance of society in the process of preservation.
