Summary/Abstract: This article describes the importance, level and prospects of the development of small and medium enterprises in the Republic of Moldova. The authors also conduct a study on the characteristics of small and medium-sized enterprises and present their own opinion on SMEs. At the same time, the authors present the analysis of the evolution of small and medium enterprises for the period of 2019-2023. Based on this analytical approach, the author highlights the most pressing problems that stand in the way of the efficient functioning of the given sector, at the same time offering forecasts and prospects for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.
