Summary/Abstract: The present study brings into discussion an unpublished document about the period of the Second World War, more precisely the period March 1944–August 1945 in Oradea, captured and described by the rector of the Greek-Catholic Seminary of Oradea, Dr. Gavril Stan, in a report addressed to the Greek-Catholic Diocese of Oradea on August 26, 1945. The cleric from Oradea recounted in great detail the life of the Seminary he led, emphasizing the fact that its buildings were occupied, by order of the Hungarian and then Soviet-Romanian authorities, by the military, becoming a military hospital, a „barracks” and a military command headquarters. At the same time, Gavril Stan mentioned the important charitable role played by the Seminary during the siege of the city, the inhabitants of Oradea benefiting from air-raid shelter, and those in need or passing through Oradea, benefiting from food and even accommodation. Although the text suffers from a chronological inconstancy of events, the author is critical of the Germans (who left behind damage) and the Soviets (who killed a guard of the Seminary), praising the Romanian military and speaking neutrally towards the Hungarian military. Thus, the report of the rector Dr. Gavril Stan, brings important contributions to the history of this Romanian educational institute in Oradea, its role overcoming – with or without the will of the church superiors – the ethnic and religious „barriers” set by its founders
