Post-incunabula in the Special Collections of the County Library "Gheorghe Șincai" Bihor (I)

Summary/Abstract: In the Special Collections of the "Gheorghe Șincai" Bihor County Library were identified several post-incunabula of special patrimonial and bibliophile value. Printed between 1513 and 1540 in Paris, Basel and Cologne, these volumes bring a message from the times of the sixteenth century when the book comes to be cared for with passion both in terms of content and material. This study brings to light new information about the following volumes: Iosephus Flavius, Opera Historica, Paris 1513-1514; Farrago, Nova Epistolarum Des Erasmi Rotterodami, Basel, 1519; Martin Luther, R.P. Doct. Martini Lutherii Augustiniani Theologi Synceri Lucubrationum Pars Una, Basel, 1520. Their diverse themes represent for specialists in old books as many bridges to discovering the biographies of authors and publishers, the motivations that led to the printing of the book and especially the completion of a history of the old foreign book on the territory of our country.
