Summary/Abstract: This paper is the result of a survey of the activity of the Association of Rusyn Writers in Slovakia, one of the groups which arose during the revitalization process of the Carpatho-Rusyns in the so-called third national awakening of the Carpatho-Rusyns. The association’s statutes were registered with the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic in 2001, ten years after Carpatho-Rusyns were officially recognized by the state as one of the national minorities living on the territory of the Slovak Republic. An association of writers writing about Carpatho-Rusyns in the Rusyn language represented a further step in this national minority’s revitalization—all the more so when the codification of Rusyn in Slovakia (1995) provided an opportunity for the production of literature in the mother tongue. Here we focus on the circumstances of the rise of the association as a successor to previous publishing activities in the world of Rusyn belles-lettres. During its existence thus far, the association has published several almanacs (we will present their subject matter), scholarly publications about the development of Rusyn literature, as well as a number of artistic texts written in the normative Rusyn language.
