Summary/Abstract: Effective communication between physicians and patients is a fundamental component of quality healthcare. Among the various communication strategies, empathy plays a central role in building trust, improving patient satisfaction, and facilitating better clinical outcomes. This article explores the relational dimensions of empathic communication in medical encounters, highlighting both verbal and nonverbal cues. Drawing on interdisciplinary research from sociolinguistics, medical humanities, and clinical psychology, the paper analyzes how empathic behavior enhances shared decision-making and reduces perceived power asymmetry in the clinical context. The use of standardized protocols, such as EVE Protocol or SPIKES Protocol illustrate the practical implementation of empathic strategies in diverse medical settings. Ultimately, the paper advocates for the integration of empathy training in medical curricula, underscoring its importance not only as an ethical imperative but also as a practical competence in patient-centered care.
