Summary/Abstract: The Roman pantheon includes a variety of gods that accompany the history of the state since its foundation and that help define the Roman identity, deities who have a strong nature that must be considered, and deities who govern the elements of nature or the essential moments of human existence. The ritual performed with precision, by specially appointed magistrates or priests, ensures divine intervention in the lives of the Romans. The sacrifices, the offerings, made at the temple dedicated to the god, or in front of the altars, the festivals organized to honor him, complete the mortal-divinity relationship. Roman space knows numerous gods, both with major attributions and a widespread, as well as protective deities of homes, of the spirits of the dead or of nature and agricultural activities, deities specific to Italy but also new, taken from the provinces. The Roman gods are part of the community, there being no aspect in public or private life that does not take into account their existence, time, space, the fundamental moments of life, but also wars, coronations, the fate of laws, the solidity of constructions and even success in business being governed by the correct relationships with them.
