Summary/Abstract: Mesembryanthemum tortuosum L. plant is known also as a Sceletium tortuosum (L.) N.E.Br. The plant is a part of a traditional medicine used by native tribes of South Africa, where it grows. Thanks to its unique effects on organism such as a mood improvement, ability to suppress a thirst and mild analgesic effects it has recently become very popular. The aim of this work is to summarize all the important facts about this plant, which are known until the present.
