Summary/Abstract: Schirò finds his main source of inspiration in folk poetry, especially in Albanian epic lyricism. According to his ideological and romantic risorgimental vision, folk poetry, while retaining the characteristics of the Albanian people, is tasked with perpetually celebrating the heroic value demonstrated by the people throughout history. “Milo and Haidhe” is a short poem composed of eighteen cantos (1891- 1907) set in the rural life of a springtime, during which the love between the two protagonists, Milo and Haidhe, blossoms. Milo is a young man of noble lineage, Haidhe is the most admired girl in the village, also of noble origins. Described by the author as a sublime and romantic figure, Haidhe is characterized by purity, sweetness, and emotional sensitivity
