Summary/Abstract: This article examines the theatrical response to contemporary social and political crises through three performances from the Balkan region: #Jeanne, dir. Anja Suša, The Handke Project, dir. Blerta Neziraj, and The Merchant of Venice, dir. Yavor Gardev. These productions confront the topics of historical memory, public responsibility, and linguistic alienation by employing aesthetic strategies such as irony, allegory, and ritualisation. The analysis highlights how theatre functions as a critical form of collective imagination, translating the condition of polycrisis into cultural and artistic terms. In doing so, the article positions theatre not merely as a mirror of society, but as an active space of social engagement.
