Summary/Abstract: The report tries to sketch the main ideological transformations that the directing profession experienced in the years after 1944. The shaping of these movements is linked to the attempts to create a new working-class culture in Bulgaria and the transformation of the theatre into one of the main ideological instruments. The director came into the focus of power as a figure combining the creative and pedagogical functions.
