Summary/Abstract: The present paper examines the portrayal of the Romani people in two literary works from the Spanish Golden Age: “La Gitanilla” by Miguel de Cervantes and “El donadohablador: vida y aventuras de Alonso, mozo de muchos amos” by Jerónimo de Alcalá. Through a comparative approach, the study explores elements such as the physical and moral depiction of Romani characters, their values and aspirations, lifestyle, origins as an ethnic group, and the distinctive features of their social organization in order to construct a more complex image of the Roma based on these two works.
