Summary/Abstract: The wider Sarajevo region was throughout the entire Defensive-patriotic war the scene of fierce conflicts between the forces of the VRS (Army of Republika Srpska) and the so-called Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Due to its significant strategic importance and propaganda potential, this area garnered the attention of the majority of European and global public opinion. The Muslim forces launched their largest offensive operation in this area during June 1995. Despite initial partial successes, this action gradually lost momentum, and Serbian formations managed to consolidate their ranks. As a result, VRS units were able to maintain control over most of the territory they held before the start of Operation „Tekbir“. This success came at a great cost, considering the number of VRS soldiers who lost their lives. The attacking forces suffered considerably higher losses. The aim of this study was to chronologically present the course of the Muslim offensive operation „Tekbir“ based on available sources and literature, and attempt to illustrate its significance for both sides in the conflict. Taking into account all available facts, we concluded that this operation represented a significant defeat for the so-called Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as they were unable to significantly alter their position in the wider Sarajevo region until the end of the war.
