Summary/Abstract: In the 1930s and 1940s, the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany and its allied countries was mounting, leading many to emigrate. Most countries resisted this influx, including Great Britain, which controlled Mandatory Palestine. This paper examines Jews who travelled to Palestine via Bratislava, focusing on their daily lives and the activities of Jewish and non-Jewish relief organizations assisting their emigration. The mass influx began in autumn 1938, with Jews arriving by train from Brno, Vienna, and Prague, mainly housed in the Slobodáreň boarding house and, until late 1939, the former Patrónka munitions factory.
