THE PROCESS OF SUBURBANISATION OF ŁÓDŹ SUBURBIA AREAS ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE COMMUNITIES OF ZGIERZ POVIAT

Summary/Abstract: The processes of suburbanization are taking place more and more intensively around Polish agglomerations. The dynamics and range of this phenomenon force close ob¬servation of the processes, as they cause a lot of negative consequences. The poviat of Zgierz, bordering with Łódź and connected with it with important railroads and featuring attractive natural environment, is especially threatened with the negative results of the process of urban sprawl. To research the range of this process, there have been analyzed the size and directions of migrations, the amount of agricultural land excluded from farming with regard to the aim of exclusion and the number of permits issued for building.
