Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes texts selected from Volyn media outlets during the period of the Russian-Ukrainian war. It highlights linguistic elements that deviate from the conventions of newspaper journalism but serve several important functions for realizing the authors’ intentions. These include enhancing expressiveness, imparting emotional and evaluative coloring, as well as creating a conversational tone. Special attention is given to offensive language that incorporates non-alphabetic symbols. The phenomenon of stylistic transposition of words is characterized in the context of their lexical meaning and the distinction between stylistically marked units in direct speech and purely journalistic discourse.
