Light at the End of the Tunnel: Memories about Sheikh and Scholar Ahmed-effendi Mešić

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents memories of gatherings with Ahmed-effendi Mešić, from which eventually emerged a halka (circle) of dhikr and a group of listeners of the Masnavi. From this core, the Masnavi study program would later be established. Through these gatherings and related activities, the idea was born to build a tekke in Tuzla, as well as to publish books such as The Truth About Sufism and The Masnavi. With his humble dedication, authentic approach, and interpretation of Sufism, as well as through translations from Oriental languages, Ahmed-effendi made a significant contribution to Sufi thought and literature in the Bosnian language. Moreover, he left an indelible mark on the spiritual life not only of Tuzla but of the entire region.
