Summary/Abstract: "It is universally acknowledged that the Council of Nicaea marks a turning point in Christian-Jewish relations. Not only did Christians separate themselves from the Jewish people, which is legitimate, but they also treated them with contempt and, at times, persecuted them, which is no longer normal; moreover, Christian anti-Judaism prepared the ground for a much more lethal secularized anti-Semitism.The thesis I support and from which I started: The Church took over the anti-Semitism of the authorities of the Roman Empire who were dissatisfied with the non-assimilation of the Jews into Roman society, in order to benefit from the power and advantages of a recognized religion, in order to use the imperial force to fulfill its missionary vocation. The price paid was in ethical terms, corruption and the ignoring of an important part of the Tradition that today is called Kabbalah. My article addresses a thorny and current issue, the Council and its consequences during the tenure of the Chief Rabbi as reconciled through the Geneva talks in 1949."
