Summary/Abstract: This research aims to demonstrate that Rabbi Alexandru Şafran invoked the Sefira Hesed - divine charity, asking for mercy from the Romanian state authorities, appealing to the help of the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church, especially the apostolic nuncio, and other international organizations. Through them, the research demonstrates that Şafran received divine mercy, the Sefira Hesed thus manifesting itself in favor of the Jewish community that Şafran led. During the Nazi period, Şafran, together with the community he led, therefore became the recipient of the Sefira Hesed. During the communist and post-communist periods, I demonstrate that Şafran also managed to become a sender, a channel of the Grace of this Sefira for Jews and Romanians.
