Summary/Abstract: The hypothesis of this study is that English has become a dominant linguistic force and the present paper examines the complex relationship between various speech functions and translation processes, while at the same time focusing on intercultural communication, grounded in the theoretical frameworks of speech act theory. Furthermore, the study tries to examine how the core speech functions serve as fundamental tools for understanding the complexity and dimensions of language use. Using a multidisciplinary approach, the study explores the role of the translator and at the same time the challenges faced in the translating process, trying to maintain the intent, tone, and social functions comprised by the speech acts
