Summary/Abstract: If we analyze the problem of the concrete role of the hyperbole at the level of Ducharme's language, we notice that it operates at a description level as well as at the humorous and ironical one. When he plays with the language, Ducharme does not want to achieve purely aesthetic effects; for him, language is a tool destined to reinforce the message, the main idea of the text. Black humour and irony redirect all the values, new and old in the same stylistic area. The only elements that remain not affected or transformed by the evolution of the narrative events are the desire to protect childhood from the passing time and a certain state of mind, pure, passionately attached to early life.
