Summary/Abstract: This article examines the demographic challenges faced by China, the factors and trends contributing to the deepening demographic crisis, and the capacity of the social security system to address these issues. The parameters of the proposed pension system reform are discussed, along with an assessment of its potential to provide an adequate response to growing deficits. A comprehensive review is conducted on the economic challenges associated with an aging population.
