Summary/Abstract: China is the world’s largest carbon emitter, with 10.7 million kilotons of emissions in 2019, accounting for 31.6% of the world’s total emissions, according to World Bank data. At the end of 2020, China committed to peak emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 20602, an ambitious goal that requires a comprehensive policy framework for each polluting sector and the creation of a sound financial system to provide capital for the investment. What is the task before China and what are the prospects for its implementation? The article offers an overview of the objectives by sector, the policies to achieve them, the challenges and prospects for the implementation of the objectives.
