Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to answer the question whether psychological suffering expe- rienced by a person can be—firstly—the basis for expressing a request for death, and secondly, whether the fullfilment of such a request can lead to the perpetrator of homi- cide being privileged and subjected to article 150 § 1 of the Polish Criminal code. Three situations related to various sources that can cause psychological suffering in a person (somatic illness, mental disorder, and external circumstances related to a life event) were analyzed. For each of these situations, an attempt was made to demonstrate that it can have such a strong impact on a person’s psyche that it can become a determinant of expressing a request for death and, importantly in the case of euthanasia homicide, cause compassion form the perpetrator.
