Summary/Abstract: When resentment, misunderstanding, and betrayal are present in a couple’s relationship, they can act as serious obstacles to functional communication between the two partners. If they are indeed present, they must be recognized and handled appropriately, otherwise they can result in damage to deep communication in the couple. There is also the risk of damaging the most vulnerable part of the family system: the children.
